Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have questions about our products or services? Find clear, straightforward answers to our most common enquiries below.
General
Do you provide IT support or managed IT services?
No, we focus on supplying the right equipment for your needs rather than ongoing IT support. We will assist with warranty claims where needed, and we will look after you with anything we sell, but day-to-day IT support is outside our area of business.
Where are you based?
We are based in Gloucester, UK.
Is FHE Technology a shop?
No. FHE Technology is not a retail shop and we don't operate a public showroom. We are a business technology supplier, supplying equipment to meet our customers' individual requirements. If you're looking for something specific, simply contact us and we'll be happy to discuss what you need and provide a quotation.
Can you arrange installation?
Yes. We can arrange installation for digital signage and displays, computers and IT equipment, and audio visual systems.
What size and type of businesses do you supply?
We have supplied everyone from sole traders and SMEs through to blue-chip companies and public sector organisations.
What is your approach?
Our approach is straightforward: recommend the right equipment for your needs without hard selling or unnecessary upselling. We aim to provide practical advice, reliable products and good value, while being easy to deal with.
Digital Signage & Displays
What is digital signage?
Digital signage is the use of dedicated digital displays to show advertising, information, announcements or other content.
Can I use a TV instead of a commercial display?
While possible, consumer televisions are not designed for the same reliability, brightness and operating hours as commercial digital signage displays.
Can displays be updated remotely?
Yes. Many digital signage systems can be updated remotely from anywhere in the world using cloud-based content management systems.
What is a video wall?
A video wall is a group of professional displays connected together to create one large display surface.
What is an Interactive Whiteboard?
An Interactive Whiteboard is a touchscreen display with a built-in computer and operating system for collaboration, presentations, annotation, and information sharing.
Can digital signage run from a USB drive?
Yes. Many commercial displays can play content directly from a USB drive without additional hardware.
Do I need a media player?
In most cases, yes. Some displays have integrated media players, while others could use external media players, a PC or laptop.
Computers & IT Equipment
Can you supply custom-built PCs?
Yes. We can supply PCs built to your exact specification, usually within a few working days.
Do you supply servers?
Yes. We can supply both tower and rack-mounted servers from all major manufacturers.
What brands do you supply?
We supply all major brands and many specialist manufacturers, including Dell, Lenovo, HP, Asus, Acer, Brother, Canon, Terra and Synology.
Can you source unusual hardware configurations, or specialist hardware?
Yes. Contact us with your requirements and we will do our best to source or arrange a suitable solution. We can supply custom-build PCs to order.
Can you supply refurbished hardware?
Yes. We have access to a number of trusted refurbished equipment suppliers where refurbished systems are the right fit for a customer's requirements or budget.
Why do you generally recommend new equipment over refurbished?
There are several reasons. New systems are usually more up to date in terms of specification, performance and compatibility with modern software. In many cases, the price difference between refurbished and new equipment is not large enough to justify buying older hardware.
A new PC or laptop will also typically have a longer useful lifespan, meaning it is less likely to need replacement sooner or struggle with newer software and operating system requirements in the future.
Audio Visual
Can you supply audio visual equipment for the home, such as hi-fi separates and televisions?
Yes. We can supply televisions, disc players, stereo amplifiers, streamers, turntables, AV receivers and processors, tuners, speakers, accessories and a wide range of home audio visual equipment.
Can you supply projectors and screens?
Yes. We can supply projectors, projection screens and related accessories for business, education, events and home use.
Do you provide audio visual solutions for larger spaces?
Yes. We can provide suitable display and audio solutions for spaces ranging from meeting rooms and classrooms through to larger commercial, hospitality and public environments.
Purchasing and Finance
What is the buying process?
The process is straightforward: enquiry → quotation → written acceptance of the quotation → pro-forma invoice → payment → order and delivery
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept the following forms of payment: Bank transfer (preferred); Cash; Cheques; Credit and Debit Cards; Paypal. Orders are not dispatched until payment has cleared.
Why do you require payment before dispatch?
As equipment is sourced specifically against customer requirements, orders are normally supplied on a payment-before-dispatch basis. This helps us keep our administration and costs under control while continuing to offer competitive pricing.
Do you offer credit terms?
Unfortunately, we do not offer credit at the present time.
Do you offer finance or leasing?
We don't offer finance or leasing directly, but we can put you in touch with third-party finance and leasing providers who may be able to assist.
Are your prices inclusive or exclusive of VAT?
Our prices are inclusive of VAT and delivery, however we will also state the ex-VAT price in any quotes.
Can you deliver directly to my customer or another address?
Yes. Orders can normally be delivered to your business address or directly to another UK address - just let us know the delivery address, and we will do the rest.
Do you supply across the UK?
Yes. We supply throughout the UK and all of our products can be delivered nationwide, often by the next business day, although exceptions apply.
What are the exceptions to next business day delivery?
The main exception is equipment such as PCs, laptops, or servers that need to be custom-built or configured to order. Delivery may also take longer for overseas customers and some more remote UK locations, including parts of northern Scotland and Northern Ireland. We will always keep you informed of expected delivery times and provide tracking information when available.
Can you deliver internationally?
Yes. Orders can be delivered anywhere in the world, although this will cost more and we will need to obtain a price for delivery - just let us know where you are looking to deliver to.
Is there a minimum order value?
No. We are happy to help with anything from small individual items to a complete technology requirement.
Do you have a web shop?
Because we don't usually keep stock, and prefer to deal personally with our customers - everything we supply is to individual customer order - we have no dedicated web shop at present. Occasional online sales are made through our Ebay channel.
I can buy it cheaper on Amazon or another website. Can you beat that price?
Not always. Online retailers may offer products at prices we cannot match for various reasons. Our focus is on providing the right equipment for your requirements at good value and giving the best service we can, rather than simply offering the lowest possible price.
Do you have a price list?
No. We don't hold stock, and every quotation is prepared individually. We have access to a vast range of products from many manufacturers and suppliers, with prices and availability changing regularly, so it would be impossible to maintain an accurate price list.
